Privacy Policy
Last updated 27 October 2026.
This policy explains how JD Home Improvements collects and uses your personal information when you visit this website or ask us to quote for work on your property. We keep it in plain English, and we only collect what we need to look after you and your roof.
Who we are
JD Home Improvements is the trading name of JD Roofing (SW) Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17503468. Our registered office is 128 Stoke Lane, Westbury On Trym, Bristol, Avon, BS9 3RJ, and we trade from 28 West Town Rd, Shirehampton, Bristol, BS11 9NQ. For the purposes of UK data protection law, JD Roofing (SW) Ltd is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
If you have a question about this policy or your information, call us on 07717 610410 or write to us at the address above.
Information we collect
Most of what we hold comes directly from you. Depending on how you deal with us, it can include:
- Contact details, such as your name, phone number, email address and postal address.
- Property details, such as the address of the job, the type of roof, access arrangements, and notes or photos of the work.
- Quote and job records, including what we quoted, what was agreed, and when the work was carried out.
- Payment records, such as invoices and the amount and date you paid. We do not keep card details.
- Messages you send us by phone, text, email, social media or a review platform.
- Website data, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, which our hosting provider and the services described below may record.
How we use your information
We use your information to reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote, then to carry out the work you ask for. We also use it to keep our accounts and deal with any warranty questions about the job.
After a job, we may ask whether you would be happy to leave a review on Checkatrade, TrustATrader or Google. Leaving a review is always your choice. We do not send marketing messages unless you have agreed to receive them, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Our lawful bases
UK data protection law requires a lawful basis for each use of personal information. We rely on the following:
- Contract. We need your details to quote for and carry out work you ask us to do, or to take steps you request before agreeing a contract.
- Legal obligation. We keep financial records because tax law requires it.
- Legitimate interests. We keep job records so we can answer warranty questions and run our business properly. We weigh these interests against your rights before relying on them.
- Consent. Where we ask your permission, for example to use a photo of your roof on our website, you can withdraw it at any time.
Photos of our work
We often photograph roofs before and after a job, both as a record and to show the quality of our work. When we publish them, we do not name you or give your full address. If you would rather we did not use photos of your property, tell us and we will remove them.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We share it only where we need to, with:
- Suppliers and subcontractors who help with your job, such as scaffolders and skip hire firms.
- Our accountant, and HMRC where the law requires it.
- Companies that provide our IT, phone, email and website hosting.
- Review platforms, if you choose to leave a review with them.
- Professional advisers, courts or authorities, where we are legally required to share it or need to protect our rights.
Anyone we share your information with must keep it secure and use it only for the purpose we gave it to them for.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for up to 12 months if no work goes ahead. Where we carry out work, we keep job and contact records for the length of any warranty on that work, plus a further year, so we can deal with questions or claims. Financial records are kept for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to. After that, we delete or securely destroy them.
Cookies and third-party services
This website does not use advertising cookies or tracking analytics. Some pages load content from Google, which may set its own cookies or collect technical data such as your IP address:
- Google Maps, which shows where we are based. The map only loads if you choose to show it, so Google sets nothing until then.
- Google Fonts, which provides the typefaces used on the site.
When you send an enquiry through our online quote form, your details are passed to FormSubmit, a form delivery service, which emails them to us. We also keep a copy in a secure database run by Supabase, so we can keep track of your enquiry. The form also uses Postcodes.io to look up the postcode you enter, so we can show the area and how far it is from our yard. Only the postcode is sent, never your name or contact details, and it does not set advertising cookies.
You can find out more in each provider's own privacy policy. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If we add analytics or other cookies in future, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
The site also links to our profiles on Checkatrade and TrustATrader. Once you follow one of those links, that website's own privacy policy applies.
Keeping your information safe
We keep paper records in a secure place and protect devices with passwords. We also limit access to people in our team who need it for their work. No system is perfect, but if something went wrong that put your information at risk, we would tell you and report it to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) where required.
Some of the companies we use, such as email and hosting providers, may store data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure suitable safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contract clauses.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information, where we no longer have a reason to keep it.
- Ask us to restrict or stop using your information in certain cases, or object to how we use it.
- Ask us to pass information you gave us to another organisation, where this applies.
- Withdraw your consent, where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, call us or write to us. We will reply within one month, and there is normally no charge.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we change how quote requests from this website reach us. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed.
